The Skoda Octavia vRS is Set for the Police
The Skoda Octavia, a popular family car from Czech manufacturers Skoda Auto, has been produced since around 1996. The Octavia is Skoda’s most popular car model; to date, four generations of the Skoda Octavia have been introduced into the market, with nearly five million units sold in its twenty-four-year presence on the market. Many car experts and owners alike commend the Skoda Octavia for its reliability, practicality, and excellent overall running costs. The Skoda Octavia vRS iV is the new fourth-generation instalment from the Volkswagen group.
Skoda Octavia vRS
The Octavia vRS is the first plug-in hybrid powertrain in the performance-oriented Skoda RS fleet. It comes with a 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine alongside a 113bhp electric motor, which delivers nearly 180kW in combined power output. Its powertrain is the same as that of Golf’s new GTE, developing 242bhp and 400Nm, with carbon dioxide emissions as low as 30g/km. Skoda also claims that the Octavia vRS can reach a top speed of 62mph in as little as 7.3 seconds! Also, as long as you regularly charge the car’s 13kWh battery pack, you are guaranteed to cover at least 37 miles on electric power only. Power is sent to the vehicles' front axle through a six-speed DSG gearbox, which you can control with the paddle-shifters behind your steering wheel.
Skoda Octavia vRS iV
Skoda has revealed the prices for the second instalment in its Octavia vRS fleet- the Skoda Octavia vRS iV. This model’s hatchback variation has an entry price of £35,020, while the estate models start from £36,220. Both models have been available for order in the UK since 3rd November. The plug-in hybrid follows the 247bhp 2.0-litre petrol model popular in many showrooms. Skoda has announced prices for this variant, starting at £31,495, while the estate price goes for £32,695. Skoda has also announced that in 2021, the Skoda vRS fleet will be complemented with a 197bhp diesel model.
Skoda Octavia vRS iV’s Features
The fourth-generation Octavia vRS TSI runs on Volkswagen Group’s famous turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, also found in Golf’s latest FTI. The engine’s output is 247bhp and 370Nm of torque, which Skoda describes as more than enough for a 0-62mph time of 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 155mph. According to Skoda, an increased torque output means the Iv can sprint from 50mph to 70mph 2.2 seconds faster. As is typically the case with plug-in hybrids, the Octavia vRS iV also significantly improves its range consumption numbers. The estate can be between 176.6mpg and 235.4 mpg, with saloon managing between 176.6mpg and 256.8mpg. On the car’s spec, Octavia vRS iV’s carbon dioxide emissions also fall between 26g/km and 36g/km.Given its WLTP-certified 39 miles of electricity-only range, the Octavia vRS iV comes with a 13kWh battery pack that is adequate. You can fully charge this battery in about three-and-a-half hours with a 3.6kW charger.
Both hatchback and estate versions of the Octavia have classic vRS designs like 19in alloy wheels, a wider front bumper, twin tailpipes, black grilles, air curtains, and a rear apron with a black diffuser. Additionally, full LED matrix headlights and taillights are standard. Upgrades inside the vehicle include Alcantara vRS-branded seats adjustable and heated for the driver and front passenger. The car also has a 10.0in touchscreen infotainment system with Skoda's "always online" MIB3 interface. Progressive steering, adaptive cruise control, an electric tailgate, keyless entry, and front and rear parking sensors are also standard.
