Spot the difference: Design Detail on the new Skoda Fabia

The Old and the New, Skoda Fabia

Since its initial release back in 1999. The Fabia has received numerous facelifts to bring it to where it is today. The first edition Fabia came equipped with a CD player and mechanical speedometer whereas the newest model comes with state of the art satellite navigation along with Skodas fantastic SmartLink system which allows the user to connect using apps such as: Apple CarPlay, Mirrorlink and Android Auto.

The 2018 Fabia comes with a choice of engine. You can opt for either the 1.0 litre or the 1.2 litre TSI Turbo. If you’re looking for the extra power, the 1.2 litre engine packs a surprising amount of punch, whilst the 1.0 litre engine is your perfect companion for city driving.

Running costs

The Fabia is renowned for its fantastic fuel economy. There isn’t a petrol engine that Skoda uses that averages less than 59mpg. Impressive, right? This can even get to 62mpg if you opt to include the 15-inch low rolling resistance tyres that are offered on all Fabia models. This is streets ahead of its original model and it’s also a far bit better than a lot of the other hatches on the market.

As well as all the changes under the bonnet, the Fabia has had some great aesthetic modifications to modernise. For example, the hood and front bumpers have been altered in order to make the car look, and feel more aerodynamic when driving. Not only does it benefit the aesthetics of the car but it also adds to the downforce improving the car’s handling.
