Skoda Kodiaq Review
Following on from the success of the 2017 and 2018 editions, the 2019 Skoda Kodiaq delivers an attractively priced 7-seater SUV that’s perfect for family driving in the city or off-road terrains. It’s practical, attractive, safe, and fun to drive. What more could anyone in the market for a large SUV ever ask for?
Striking Appearances Meet Added Practicality
Skoda’s first ever 7-seater SUV looks a dream. A wide, three-dimensional radiator grille is supported by sharp side and rear views while the lights are illuminated in the iconic C-shape that is synonymous with the Skoda brand. The 2019 edition is available in an array of stylish metallic paint finishes that will keep shining for years after leaving the dealership.
The multi award winning Kodiaq is available in several trims, and finding one that satisfies your family needs won’t be hard. The SE trim, for example, offers dual-zone climate control along with parking sensors, automatic lights, and a tidy infotainment facility which includes Bluetooth and the of the trappings that you’d expect of the modern SUV.
In addition to the hefty boot space, particularly when using five seats, the interiors offer great appearances and function. Simple features like the front centre armrest with storage compartment, adjustable steering column, rear armrest with cupholders and illuminated luggage compartment are all designed with modern families in mind.
The tinted windows, sunset privacy glass, and black wheel arch surrounds all give the vehicle a classy look that you’d be forgiven for associating with a far more expensive model.
As a family driver, though, safety behind the wheel is a major priority. The 5-star Euro NCAP SUV is blessed with side airbags as well as the driver and passenger airbags. Similarly, the fuel cut off safety device and belt load limiters are among some of the features used to protect drivers, passengers, and other road users alike.
A Powerful Engine That’s Still Fun to Drive
Like its predecessor, the Skoda Yeti, the Skoda Kodiaq offers the SUV experience without the steering and handling difficulties often associated with 4x4s. You’ll feel in control of the vehicle at all times while options like the 2l diesel have more than enough power to carry seven people with ease, regardless of whether it’s the 148bhp or 188bhp variant.
Much of the car’s performance is underpinned by the same engine used in some of Volkswagen Group’s SUVs, like the VW Tiguan, and offers fantastic reliability. Meanwhile, most models offer upwards of 40mpg (nearer the 45mpg mark) in average driving conditions.
Cruise control, available on many trims include the SE, cranks the fun up another gear while the choice between front-wheel or four-wheel drive and manual or automatic help you create the perfect drive for your family without compromising on value for money.
